As the first mirrorless camera to record 4K 60p or 50p footage with 10 bits of colour and 4:2:2 chroma subsampling, it is also the first mirrorless camera to record action in 4K 60p format. Aside from 4K and Full HD recording, it also has no time limit on how long it can be used. In addition to supporting hybrid log–gamma (HLG) recording, All-i recording mode has additionally been improved to provide a higher bit rate up to 400mbit/s. Panasonic claims that this camera is freeze-proof, dust-proof, and splash-proof as well as having five axis in-body stabilization.
In addition to its more advanced low-light sensitivity, a multi-aspect sensor, and expanded DCI 4K options, Panasonic Lumix DC-GH5S is also designed as a more specialized filmmakers' camera. Despite having a 10 Megapixel sensor, it lacks a stabilising feature. In addition to the GH5, the Panasonic GH5S will also be able to shoot 4K natively at up to 60p using VIDEOS (i.e. where one capture pixel equals one output pixel) at DCI or UHD 4K.
